Built on whichever platform actually fits
We build in WordPress, Shopify, Magento and React. Which one you need depends on what the site has to do, who maintains it, and what it has to connect to — not on what we happen to prefer. We’ll tell you which fits before you commit.
Platforms we build on
WordPress
Our deepest bench. Custom themes, custom post types, REST endpoints and plugins built to order. Best when you want full control of the content and no licence fees.
- Content-heavy and editorial sites
- Sites needing custom functionality
- Teams who publish often
Shopify
Theme development and app integration when you want someone else to run the hosting, PCI compliance and uptime. Fastest route to a working store.
- Retail stores wanting low maintenance
- Fast launches on a proven stack
- Custom themes and Liquid work
Magento
For catalogues and B2B rules that smaller platforms can’t express — complex pricing tiers, multi-store setups, large product counts.
- Large or complex catalogues
- B2B pricing and customer groups
- Multi-store and multi-currency
React
When the site is really an application — dashboards, configurators, anything with heavy interaction. Often sitting on an API we build alongside it.
- Web apps and dashboards
- Headless front ends on a CMS
- Interfaces that need to feel instant
Choosing between them
Most of this decision comes down to four questions, and it’s worth answering them before anyone writes code:
- Who maintains it? A non-technical team publishing weekly wants WordPress or Shopify, not a React build that needs a developer for every change.
- What does it connect to? An existing ERP, CRM or payment system often decides the platform on its own.
- How complex is the commerce? Simple catalogues suit WooCommerce or Shopify. Tiered B2B pricing usually means Magento.
- Who owns the hosting problem? Shopify takes it off your hands and charges for it. Self-hosted platforms are cheaper and your responsibility.
We’ll give you a straight recommendation, including when the answer is a platform we’d make less money on.
What a build includes
- Content structure and URL planning before design
- Responsive front end, tested on real devices
- Core Web Vitals treated as a requirement, not a nice-to-have
- Semantic markup and crawlable pagination
- Analytics and search console configured
- A staging site throughout — nothing built on live
- Handover documentation
Rebuilding an existing site? The URL map comes first. More on that under SEO & technical marketing.
How a build runs
Scoping and platform choice
What the site must do, who runs it afterwards, what it integrates with. The platform decision falls out of those answers.
Written scope and fixed quote
Including what’s explicitly out of scope. Surprises cost both of us.
Build on staging
You review it on a real site, not a flat mockup. Changes are cheap at this stage and expensive after launch.
Launch, then watch it
Redirects live the same minute the site is. Then 30 days of monitoring Search Console for 404s and crawl errors, which is when migration problems surface.
Common questions
Which platform is fastest?
Any of them, built properly. None of them, built badly. Platform choice accounts for far less of your load time than the plugins, apps and tracking scripts added to it afterwards. We’ve audited sites where a single form widget cost more than the entire theme.
Can you migrate us between platforms?
Yes — WordPress to Shopify, Magento to WooCommerce, and the other directions. The data mapping is routine; the part that needs care is the URL map, so your search traffic survives the move.
Do you design, or only build?
Both. We can work to your designs or your agency’s, or design it ourselves.
Will we be locked into you?
No. You get the code and the documentation, and everything is built on standard platform conventions rather than private abstractions only we understand.
What about after launch?
Optional — see care plans. Plenty of clients take one; nobody has to.
Not sure which platform you need?
Describe what the site has to do and who’ll be running it. We’ll tell you which fits and roughly what it costs.
