Mobile apps

Mobile Application Development – One codebase, both app stores

One codebase, Android and iOS. We build cross-platform apps in React Native — most often for businesses that already have a WordPress site and want the app to run off the same content and data rather than a second system nobody maintains.

What we build

Content apps

Your WordPress site as an app — articles, media, categories, search, offline reading, push notifications when you publish.

Tool and calculator apps

The interactive tools we build for the web, packaged as an app that works offline.

Companion apps for a web product

Where the website is the product and the app is the convenient way to use it on a phone.

Apps on your own backend

A custom API on your existing system — WordPress, a CMS, or software we build — so one back end runs site and app alike.

Multilingual apps

Including non-Latin scripts, with the font and layout handling that usually gets skipped.

Store submission

Builds, signing, store listings and getting through review on both Google Play and the App Store.

Why React Native

For most businesses, two native codebases is a cost with no corresponding benefit. React Native gives you one codebase on both platforms, which halves the build and more than halves the maintenance — because every future change is made once.

It’s the right choice for content apps, tools, dashboards and most business apps. It’s the wrong choice for graphics-heavy games or anything leaning hard on platform-specific hardware, and we’ll tell you when you’ve got one of those rather than take the work.

Be aware before you commit

An app is a bigger ongoing commitment than a website, and it’s worth knowing that before you start:

  • Apps need continuous maintenance. Both stores push OS updates and policy changes that force rebuilds whether your app changed or not.
  • Store accounts cost money every year and are yours, not ours.
  • Review can reject you for reasons unrelated to code quality.
  • Often you don’t need an app. If the goal is a good phone experience, a fast responsive site usually beats an app nobody installs. We’d rather say that at the start than at the end.

Common questions

Can the app use our existing WordPress site?

Usually yes, and it’s the cheapest way to build one. We expose what the app needs through a custom REST API on your existing install, so you keep publishing in WordPress and the app follows along — see plugin development.

Do you do native Swift or Kotlin?

No. React Native is what we do properly, and we’d rather refer you on than take work we’d be learning on your budget.

Who owns the app and the store listings?

You do, including the source code and the developer accounts. The accounts should be registered in your name from day one.

What does maintenance look like?

Rebuilds for OS and store policy changes, dependency updates, and fixes. It can run alongside a care plan if you also have a site with us.

Tell us what the app is for

Who uses it and what they do with it. We’ll tell you whether React Native fits — or whether you’d be better served by a fast mobile website.
